The Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Mark 6:53-56
And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret, and moored to the shore. And when they got out of the boat, immediately the people recognized him, and ran about the whole neighborhood and began to bring sick people on their pallets to any place where they heard he was. And wherever he came, in villages, cities, or country, they laid the sick in the market places, and besought him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment; and as many as touched it were made well.
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.
FIRST of all, let me say “Happy Chinesse New Year” to all of you celebrate it. “Xin nian kuai le. Gong xie fa cai. Shen ti jian kang. Wan shi ru yi. Nian nian you yu. Hong bao na lai?” Happy new year. Congratulation. Always get well. Good luck. Don’t forget to give “angpo”!
Now, let us contemplate the Gospel proclaimed to us today. From the Gospel we read today we have a foundation of our faith in trusting our life to Jesus Christ. The Gospel tells us that when Jesus Christ disembarks from the boat the people immediately recognize him and they touch even the fringe of his garment; and as many as touch it are healed.
Jesus Christ has power from God to heal and to make all disease, affliction, and sin are made well. When they press upon him and touch the fringe of his garment, they are made well.
Today, Jesus Christ is ever ready to meet our needs as well. When we approach him with expectant faith, he will also make us well. We have the same experience in the Adoration, especially in the procession of the Blessed Sacrament.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, we worship Jesus Christ who is never too distant to meet us and to give us his blessing. There we pray with confidence that he will show us what we need to follow him faithfully.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, help us to recognize your presence in our daily life. Give us the eyes of faith to recognize your presence in the Blessed Sacrament and feel your power that heals us now and forever. Amen.
