The Third Week of Lent

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 5:17-19

“Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does  them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

From the Gospel today we know that Jesus wants that the essence of God’s law, his commandments and way of life, must be fulfilled. Respect for God’s laws teaches us the way of love of God and love of neighbor.

Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ transforms us and makes us like himself. We are a new creation in Christ. Jesus Christ’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. He gives us the grace to love as he loves.

Jesus Christ wants to set us free from our sinful habits, so that we can choose to live each day in the peace, joy, and righteousness. During this Lenten, we intensively repent from our sins. We try to turn away from what is harmful and destructive for our minds and hearts.

In Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, as Jesus Christ’s followers we learn to love and respect his commandments. We repent from and hate every form of our sins. Let’s love the commands of the Lord, especially the main command to love God and to love our neighbors.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ,  sanctify our souls, hearts, and bodies, so that all our thoughts, words and deeds may be according to our Father’s law. May we be saved and protected through your mighty help now and forever.
