“He who hears you hears me”
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today, according to St. Luke 10:13-16.
Jesus said to them, “Woe to you, Chorazon! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tire and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tire and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And as for you, Capernaum, ‘Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld.’ Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”
And this is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ.
We read in the Gospel, wherever Jesus goes He does miracles and mighty works to show the people how much God has loved them. He visits Chorazon and Bethsaida for doing the miracles and wonderful works for them. But they do not believe Him.
It’s why Jesus upset with them and says, “Woe to you, Corazon! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tire and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.” Jesus expresses His sorrowful pity and anger.
Jesus invites us to hear Him. We hear Him, when we hear His disciples. We also hear Him when we read the gospel in which His words proclaimed. God’s word is life-giving and it saves us.
In Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, we worship Jesus who calls us to walk in his way of truth and freedom, grace and mercy, justice and holiness. Let’s hear Him and receive His word with faith, hope and love.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, give us pure ear to hear Your words. Give us faith to gaze upon Your face with joy and confidence in Your all-merciful love. Help us to remove every doubt, fear, and proud thought that we receive Your word with trust and humble heart, now and forever. Amen.
