Let Jesus Heal Our Blindness

MY daily reflection and prayer: Thursday, December 05, 2014

Dear my friends, here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Mathew 9:27-31.

As Jesus passed by, two blind men followed him, crying out, “Son of David, have pity on us!” When he entered the house, the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they said to him. Then he touched their eyes and said, “Let it be done for you according to your faith.” And their eyes were opened. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.” But they went out and spread word of him through all that land.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ.

Let’s take a lesson from the blind men in trusting to Jesus Christ. When they hear that Jesus is passing their way, they follow Him and beg for His mercy. They cry out, “Son of David, have pity on us!”

Jesus questions their earnestness and says, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They answer confidently, “Yes, Lord!” Jesus then heals them. This is the true faith. It grows as they respond to His word with confident hope.

Faith makes us to see the power of God’s kingdom and to experience His healing presence in our lives. We see the fullness of God’s mercy and the power of His kingdom in Jesus Christ. He saves us from death and destruction. He forgives our sins, lifts the burden of guilt.

In Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we worship Jesus Christ who never refuse to bring God’s mercy to us who earnestly sought it. He gives mercy to the lowly in heart. He wants us to live in the confident expectation that He will fulfill His promises to us.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, help us to draw near to You with faith and trust in Your saving power and mercy. Heal our blindness that we may approach You confidently and pray boldly with expectant faith in Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, now and forever. Amen.
