Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 6:19-23

Jesus Christ says, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light; but if your eye is not sound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

What is the meaning of the Gospel today for us? Jesus Christ says about the “treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” He also invites us to have an eye by which we can see clearly the treasure in heaven.

Jesus Christ says, “where your treasure is, there will your heart be also”. Further he tells us that, “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light; but if your eye is not sound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!”

Jesus shows us the interconnectivity betwwen the heaavenly treasure and the eye of faith. He warns us that we need a healthy eye to recognize the heavenly treasure. It will give us happiness, peace, and security.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we worship Jesus Christ who gives us a healthy eye that we can see clearly the treasure in heaven. There we are investing in wealth and treasure which truly lasts and for all eternity as well.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, only you can free us from the spiritual darkness of sin, unbelief, and ignorance. May we more love you, the one true source of light that can overcome the darkness of sin so we can see the greatest treasure in heaven. May the light of your truth free us from the error of sin and deception. Take our hearts and fill it with your love that we may desire you alone as our Treasure forever and ever. Amen.
