MY daily reflection and prayer: Monday, September 22, 2014
Here is the Gospel for us today, according to St. Luke 8:16-18.
Jesus said to the crowd: “No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light.
For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light.
Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.”
We know well, lamps have a vital function in our lives. They help and enable us to see and work in the dark and to avoid stumbling. They spread lights. Spiritually, light is understood as an expression of the inner beauty, truth, and goodness of God.
We believe that His word is a lamp that guides our steps (see Psalm 119:105). Theologically, it means that God’s light frees us from the blindness of sin so we can walk in in truth and goodness
His light not only illumines the darkness in our lives, but also fills us with spiritual light, joy, and peace. In the Gospel, Jesus also says that we are the light. We must live in the light of His truth and love that we are able to be the light of the world.
By worshipping Jesus in Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, we surrender ourselves in Him as our Light illumines the darkness of our lives. It enables us to see the light of Christ shines in our hearts. It enables us to see the heavenly reality of God’s kingdom as well.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, guide us with Your light of saving truth. Fill our heart and mind with Your light and truth. Free us from the blindness of sin and deception that we may see Your ways clearly and understand Your will for our lives. Bless us to radiate Your light and truth to others now and forever. Amen.
