DEAR  my friends,

Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 11:16-19

To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: “‘We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ.

What can we learn from the Gospel today? Let’s focus on Jesus word, “…wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”

Most of the leaders of the Jews rejected both John the Baptist and Jesus Christ. It’s why Jesus criticized them and gave these words: To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: “‘We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”

From the Gospel today we can feel what Jesus feels. The leaders of the Jews didn’t really desire to reach their final goal. They did not promptly obey the will of God proclaimed by John the Baptist and Jesus Christ.

John the Baptist and Jesus Christ offered them salvation. But they resisted and rejected them. They have no wisdom that is proved right by their deeds. They did not long for the Kingdom of Heaven. So they rejected the witness of John the Baptist and Jesus Christ

In Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we worship Jesus Christ in order to ascend the heights of holiness we need to follow in the footsteps of St. John the Baptist, dying to our earthly tendencies. Let’s beg the Lord for humility.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, may others be more loved than we. May others be called to occupy posts and we may be forgotten. Help us to grow in fortitude in order to win heaven, now and forever. Amen.
